Scripture & Prayer Submitted by: Virginia Giordano

This request to write a prayer for my father and father figure(s) has been a little difficult. You see, I always had 3 father figures at home when I was growing up. How can this be, you may ask?

I have to say, my father Dominic, was the most compassionate, kind, generous, caring and loving man I ever knew. He not only took care of my family, my mother, my 2 brothers and me, but he also took care of his parents and family, and also my mother’s family too. My father was not a rich man, but he was rich in his faith and his love and devotion to Our Dear God. And God always provided with His love and understanding, healing and strength.

So, this is a little bit of who my father was, and there is so much more to his life, but then, I would be writing a book instead. So, now to my 2 other father figures, my brothers. My brother Bob was born in 1939 and Richard in 1941. I was born in 1947. So respectively, there were 8 and 6 years between us.

When my father was working, it was my mother and my brothers I would turn to. My brothers protected me, took care of me, watched over me and also teased me to no end, but they always loved me.

I always turned to my father, he was always there for me. As I’m writing this, I’m remembering all the love we all shared through our lives, and our love of God. My Dad passed away in 2003 at the age of 93, and reflecting on what he said to us, to love one another, to help one another and always have God and the Holy Spirit in our lives.

My brother Bob passed away in 2012 at the age of 71. His love and faith in God was shared with me when he was alive, and it is still with me today. So now it’s my brother Richard and me and the bond we have could never be stronger. He has his family, 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters and the love of his family is a dedication to the love my father shared with us.

My Prayer:

I thank you my dearest Lord, for giving me and my brothers the most loving father, whose love for you gave us the love and devotion we have for you today and always. I love you Dad, from the time I was born until the day we are together in Heaven with Our Dear Lord Jesus.

In Jesus' name. Amen

Our Daily Prayer for Tuesday - Sis. Lakeisha Singleton

“Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel therefore I urged you to imitate me.”

1 Corinthians 4:15-16 NIV

Scripture & Prayer Submitted by: Sis. Lakeisha Singleton

"Blessed By His Leadership; A Tribute to My Spiritual Father"

We all have a biological father, but do we all have a spiritual father? In April 2001, my husband and I was married by Rev. Kwamena D. Amos, the pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Little did I know at that time, Rev. Amos would become my spiritual father, pastor, and mentor.

Rev. Amos taught me that there is an order to serving God and leading his people. For several years, I served under his tutelage as his lay leader (assistant) and treasurer. I’m grateful and blessed that he gave me an opportunity to serve God’s children and to be in his service.

Rev. Amos demonstrated that through it all we must continue to do God’s work. Many of us watched him persevere through sickness, hardships, and religious bureaucracy. Approximately ten years ago, Rev. Amos decided to return to his native home in Ghana, West Africa, where he lived until he transitioned to his heavenly home on April 2, 2022.

Lord, I thank and praise you for my spiritual father, Rev. Kwamena D. Amos, who has gone on to be with you. We lift up a prayer of comfort for his wife, children, and grandchildren. We are thankful and grateful for the eighty-two years that you gave Rev. Amos. We thank you Lord for the gospel that he preached and for the Christian life that he lived. It is through the gospel that he became my spiritual father. Now Lord, Rev. Amos is resting with you, his Abba father. In Jesus name.

Amen

Our Daily Prayer for Saturday - Maria Melendez

“We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders.”

Psalm 78:4 NLT

Scripture & Prayer Submitted by: Maria Melendez

Almighty God, My prayer today is for all Godfathers and Spiritual fathers. Thank you God, for these strong Christian men that you have provided for me from the time I was small.

My eldest Godfather is 100 years old today and still praising your name daily for keeping him strong. I'm so grateful to have two strong Godfathers. My other Godfather has been such a source of strength and has helped me in my spiritual growth. He has been with me in prayer and guiding me from childhood to adulthood with much encouragement and wisdom.

When my Dad went to Heaven, I still had my Godfathers. I can call and pray with them. I can share special memories with them. I'm forever grateful dear God that you always have provided for all of my needs including spiritual guidance. My Godfathers have been a source of strength for me. We prayed in good times in bad times and they taught me to continue to go forward even when I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Most importantly, I learned about giving you God all the glory and all the praise for all that You do for us.

I learned the importance of giving a testimony of God's mighty works and sharing with others what you, Almighty God do for us each and every day of our lives. Bless all Godfathers and all Spiritual fathers, that they continue to be a source of strength to all of the children that they mentor, love, support, and provide guidance to.

In a name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit we pray,

Amen

Scripture & Prayer Submitted by: Bishop Kenneth Trawick

Dedicated to the late Bishop O.G Friddles (Spiritual father and mentor)

Heavenly Father, I come before you today to thank you for all the wonderful fathers you have placed in each of our lives. For those that may not be our biological fathers, but spiritual fathers you have placed in our paths. I thank you Lord for Bishop O. G. Friddles who came into my life at the age of ten years old. Thank you for using him to teach me the ways of God and what it means to be a true man of God.

I pray today, that you will help each of us to realize our responsibilities not only as biological fathers, but also spiritual fathers. Help us to display your love to our children and to all those you place in our care. Help us to be a reflection of our Heavenly Father and a conduit of your grace, love and mercy. For these things we humbly ask. In Jesus name!

Our Daily Prayer for Friday - Tamika Wells

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.”

Psalm 100:1-5 NKJV

Scripture & Prayer Submitted by: Tamika Wells

Dedicated to: Soujournah South, a mother after God’s own heart. Thank you for teaching me to teach my son the Psalms while he was little! You taught me how to train him up and give him powerful kingdom tools at home before he went out into this dark world! God abundantly bless you!!!!

Dear Gracious Father, We humbly come before You, honoring You for giving us the right people in our lives at the right time! Thank You for the women of God and mothers You surrounded me and my son with at such a young age! Our lives have never been the same!

God bless every mother and mother figure today, who sacrifices, instructs, protects and provides for their household. Especially, those who have a heart and the time to sow into the single parents, widows, and fatherless. Those who reach outside of themselves, their families, and their needs for others.

Reward them according to their hearts of mercy. Refresh them with Your love and tender care. Remind them and reward them for taking quiet times and moments of refreshing with You. Show them daily that their labor is not in vain! That You hear them and need them in the kingdom of God, no matter their position, or status or income. Bless them and show them that they are enough! And You are so proud that they are Your daughters!

In Jesus’ name, we pray.

Amen!
