Our Daily Prayer for Tuesday - Sis. Lakeisha Singleton

“Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel therefore I urged you to imitate me.”

1 Corinthians 4:15-16 NIV

Scripture & Prayer Submitted by: Sis. Lakeisha Singleton

"Blessed By His Leadership; A Tribute to My Spiritual Father"

We all have a biological father, but do we all have a spiritual father? In April 2001, my husband and I was married by Rev. Kwamena D. Amos, the pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Little did I know at that time, Rev. Amos would become my spiritual father, pastor, and mentor.

Rev. Amos taught me that there is an order to serving God and leading his people. For several years, I served under his tutelage as his lay leader (assistant) and treasurer. I’m grateful and blessed that he gave me an opportunity to serve God’s children and to be in his service.

Rev. Amos demonstrated that through it all we must continue to do God’s work. Many of us watched him persevere through sickness, hardships, and religious bureaucracy. Approximately ten years ago, Rev. Amos decided to return to his native home in Ghana, West Africa, where he lived until he transitioned to his heavenly home on April 2, 2022.

Lord, I thank and praise you for my spiritual father, Rev. Kwamena D. Amos, who has gone on to be with you. We lift up a prayer of comfort for his wife, children, and grandchildren. We are thankful and grateful for the eighty-two years that you gave Rev. Amos. We thank you Lord for the gospel that he preached and for the Christian life that he lived. It is through the gospel that he became my spiritual father. Now Lord, Rev. Amos is resting with you, his Abba father. In Jesus name.

Amen
