When I Think of His Goodness and What He Has Brought Me Through All I Can Do Is Praise Him

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.
— Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

If you can begin to think about the wonderful blessings that you enjoy every day, it is in that moment you can see past the current valley you may be facing. There are promises in scripture that assure us that every experience, whether it be good or bad, is a temporary event. It is important to keep this in the forefront of our minds during happy and sad events. When you experience a joyful moment, stop and really take it in. Some people do not enjoy the happy moments because they are focusing on and fearful of the “what if” thoughts in their experience.

This is the enemy’s way of keeping us from living in the present and taking in the blessings of God. I Psalms 1:2, the Psalmist writes, “But his delight is in the Law of the Lord, And in His law, he meditates day and night”.  The Psalmist reveals his reverence for the God that is above each and everything that happens in his life. He is aware that obedience will keep him in alignment with the will of God. When he walks in alignment with God’s will, he is certain he is covered and protected by Him. He can delight in each and every moment and treasure it for the blessing that it is.

For every single mountain he has brought you over, thank him. For each valley he has brought you through, thank him, and above all else, praise him for both the joyful and the hard moments. He is a never-changing God and his promises are always true. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Remind yourself that you are simply in a season and rejoice in the God that can carry you through it.
