Take Me To The Rock That Is Higher Than I

Hear my cry, O God;
Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah
For You, O God, have heard my vows;
You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.
You will prolong the king’s life,
His years as many generations.
He shall abide before God forever.
Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him!
So I will sing praise to Your name forever,
That I may daily perform my vows.
— Psalm 61

I stand at the very edge of a great unknown, yet here I feel your strength and Holy Presence Lord.  I feel like many who believe your promises, I have a knowing that gives me peace.  I have been tried in the last few years, in which I have experienced and witnessed your manifest healing and blessings.

 So, I will obey your command to stand on this very mountain where I worship you, to call out to the wilderness and those that are blind and to those that are looking up to the rock that is higher than themselves.  I bring good tidings not mine, but yours, it is dark now but there will be a coming to and reconciliation that you will offer and all those who wish to go up to the top will be welcomed by you.

 Faith is the substance that fuels us today, we will rely more heavily on this great God for direction and peace (Hebrews 11). As we stare into the darkness, he beckons us to trust him and through that faith walk he opens doors that give us a real confidence that ultimately, he is in control.  We are left, during this uncertain period in our human history with the choices of unbelief and doubt or faith that overcomes those emotions.  The choice always is ours.

 God beckons us to follow closely to his word because everything he has created is good and we should receive it with thanksgiving.  Ultimately when we see things that are threatening and harmful, we must run to the rock that stands always higher than ourselves and take hold of his promises in faith and thanksgiving, through this act alone will I find favor with our Father and He will answer our cry.
