Jehovah Rapha: The Lord Who Heals
“He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you. ”
We are complex beings created in His own image, which means that He gave us each our own mind, free will, and emotions. Our brokenness due to sin is very complex as well; sometimes our deepest hurts cannot be detected on an x-ray or through a blood test. What of the issues stemming from guilt, shame, heartbreak, discouragement, and disappointment? What of the wayward child or close family member or the excruciating grief of the loss of a loved one?
Spiritual, emotional, and relational hurts can be more painful than physical maladies, and more importantly, those unhealed areas of our lives can lead to serious illnesses such as cancer, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
We must seek balance and the first step is to allow the Lord, Jehovah Rapha, who is our highest physician, to begin healing our hearts. We must freely surrender. This God operates in free will and complete surrender. He offers healing to all of us but expects us to surrender all those broken areas to Him first.
Mind – we decide who we believe. 2 Corinthians 10:5
Body – nurture your body and be diligent in keeping the temple holy and acceptable to God. 1 Corinthians 3:16
Soul – brokenness cannot be easily detected; it can manifest in the mind and symptoms in
the body.
The key element of bringing all into alignment with God’s will is surrender. Once you master trust, (Proverbs 3:5-6), faith (Hebrews 11:1-3), and belief (Mark 11:24) He can become Jehovah Rapha and work His healing powers in every single area of your life. Belief, faith, and trust must join together to receive the promises of abundant life.
Find a quiet moment in which you let all of those elements really fuse together. Think on Acts 2:1-4 and allow your mind, body, and soul to be in one accord with Jehovah Rapha, and you will enter into a Holy Spirit-filled realm of healing where he is free to move in your surrendered heart and heal it once and for all. From that moment on you can be bold and walk in confidence because of your renewed relationship with this amazing God who pursues you and leaves the 99 for you.
Take a place at his table and lead others who may be seeking a place in His Kingdom or need to be delivered from darkness. You can show them with your light the path to Jesus because you have taken up your cross and are walking in your healing.
