Building A Spirit Filled Life Through Relationship - Millie McFarland

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,

Through out my life's journey as a saved Christian, I've learned that I need a well rounded spiritual life. Getting my priorities in order took some time; it didn't come over night, but what I've learned has built my spiritual life.

To live a spirit filled life we need to put God first and everything else will fall into place. We need to get passionate about a prayer life and about studying His word. Once you build a communication with God Almighty and start digesting the word; you begin to grow into a deeper relationship with Him. It builds your character and it strengthens your walk with Him.

Another key to build your relationship with God is Praise and Worship. In this, you display that it is all about Him; because you are not asking for anything. In turn you are submitting yourself in adoration and surrendering your will to Him. Our praise and worship makes God arise from his resting place as its a sweet aroma unto him. We draw closer to God by singing His praises, singing His Psalms and singing love songs to Him. It invokes His very presence in that intimate time of worship. It is personal between you and Him; it is there that His spirit ministers to your soul. It is a wooing in the spirit and it builds your connection to God.

If we take a moment to think about an intimate relationship here in the physical; such as with your spouse, that took time to build. You met at some point; you realized they were someone you wanted to get to know. So, you took time to communicate and to build a relationship, until you knew you was madly in love with the person that became your spouse. The dedication you gave to building that relationship forged a bond between you and your spouse. God is longing to forge a bond with you. Can you take time to communicate with Him, build a relationship with Him; until you are so deeply and madly in love with the Lover of your soul?  He is looking for you; He longs for you and He is patiently waiting to Love you.

Once you realize all it takes to be living fully in His will; is to first surrender your life to Him. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Then start building your relationship by talking to Him daily. Reading His Holy word daily. Praising and Worshipping Him daily. You will then realize that nothing is more important than your personal relationship with God.

Reflect on the scripture given at the beginning of this devotion and realize that your relationship with God is strengthened by His Spirit as you build on getting to know Him; through time spent with Him in prayer, in the word and your personal praise and worship. I invite you to really get to know Him; I promise you, you won't regret it because I know it was the best thing that ever happened to me.
