God’s Plan Is Best - Ruth Doran

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Accepting God’s will and not getting what you want can seem shattering at times.  Let me explain.  Having lost my mom at a young age; I SO wanted to one day be a mom myself.  I wanted a really big family, lots of children.  I pictured myself being blessed with five or more precious babies to love.

After my husband and I were blessed with two wonderful children (a boy and a girl); the doctors advised us against having any more children.  They explained that in choosing to have more children, I would be putting my own life at risk.  I was devastated!  I certainly didn’t want my children to grow up without a mother!

I knew that road!  I was mad at God though!  I had, after all, wanted more children.  I really felt that I had a way with kids!  God spoke to me saying, “trust in my plans for you.”   I prayed fervently for God to reveal his plan.  I cherished our two children, knowing that they were precious gifts from God.  I tried to be the best mom I could be for them.

When our daughter was six months old, God placed it upon my heart to open a home day care for children.  He showed me the many people in our area who needed a loving and safe environment for their children as they had to work.  He spoke to me about charity and reaching out to those in need.

I opened and ran a children’s daycare for thirty-five years.  I felt so blessed that so many people entrusted me to care for and help to guide their most precious gifts!  Everyone contributed what they could toward offsetting the cost of food, diapers and wipes.

My prayers had been answered in God’s way, not mine!  I, to this day, truly love each and every one of the children entrusted to my care.  A few of them grew up and entrusted me with caring for their own children.

What a wonderful answer to my prayers!  Such a blessing!  It was wonderful for my own children to be able to grow up alongside many brothers and sisters! They learned many beneficial lessons in caring for and nurturing all those little ones (54 in all).

It really benefitted them when they did baby sitting and went on to have their own children.  We are blessed to still be in contact with all but one of the families who brought their children to us!  God’s plan is ALWAYS the best!
