How God’s Glorious & Saving Grace Has Changed My Life - Rev. Grace Reyes

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

When God steps into our life in a meaningful way, He has his own agenda.  It will never be predictable, at least my story played out differently than how I had imagined it. I have heard many a testimony of God’s saving, transforming Grace.  I imagined mine would look the same, but I know better now.

When I was diagnosed with lung cancer, nothing spiritually at that point prepared me for the journey that I was about to embark on.  I was not steeped in the word and although I was attending church regularly, I did not have an intimate relationship with God.  He was someone I visited on Sundays and the bible was a book read at that time.  I attended the Wednesday classes and went through the motions of serving the Lord.

He knew way before I knew that I would be going through a very tough time and had spoken through the Holy Spirit to my husband that not only I, but he and the boys were going through a fire, but we were to just trust Him. He sent his angels in the form of women from my church congregation who became the support we would need to get through this valley.  They not only prayed for me, they were my cheerleaders and extented family as I came out of surgery after they removed my left lung.

There were texts, cards, home cooked meals delivered for my family. I would be pacing at night lost in my thoughts and praying when it would be interrupted by someone reaching out and sending personal prayers, words of encouragement and verses from the very heart of God.

It is during the toughest fight in my valley that I learned about trusting God.  I learned to walk by faith and not by sight.  Their wisdom and Love showed me the unending Love of God.  I know that God needed to teach me to look beyond the darkness I faced, He also knew I didn’t know exactly how, so he sent His wonderful disciples, lamps lit, showing the way to his Grace and healing mercy.

This transformed me, it changed who I was deep inside and for this reason I am his faithful servant.  I will walk in faith and not by sight because when I saw darkness, he was working all things for my good.
