The Christian Pledge of Allegiance One God, One Race, One Culture - Sis. Lakeisha Singleton

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
— John 3:16

Have you ever wondered where did racism come from?  Many of us know what racism is and may have experienced the effects of it.  But do we know where it originated.  Racism is a demonic spirit that breeds hate, intimidation, and division.  Racism has left a terrible stain on the fabric of our country.  We, the believers, must provide a solution to help this country deal with the stain of racism.  As disciples of Christ, we must utilize our time and resources to bring healing to the people that racism has affected.  This can only be accomplished through God’s love.  The love of God has placed people of all races on the same playing field.  God’s love for us is the same regardless of the color of our skin.  God loves the entire world, which includes people of all races who are in His world.

John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God’s love for us has not changed and it will never change.  However, our love for one another has changed.  This change has caused hatred and division to develop amongst God’s children, which is not God’s will.

Jesus said to his disciples (John 15:12-13) “My command is this:  Love each other as I have loved you.  Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for ones friends.”

It is absolutely possible for us to love one another as Christ loves us.  This universal love can only be attained through unity.  This begs the question:  why is the church so divided?  The scriptures reflect that division had erupted during Jesus’ ministry so much so that his own people refused to accept him as King.  His coming was prophesied in the days of old by many prophets including the Prophet Isaiah who said  (Isaiah 7:14), “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive bear a son and shall call His name Immanuel.”

Even though Jesus’ coming was foretold, when he actually came many still did not believe that he was who he said he was.  Sadly, this unbelief and distrust about Jesus led to great division.  How could the man who personified universal love end up in the midst of great division?  The answer to that question is faithlessness.  See, when we do not have faith, we dismiss the truth!  The enemy’s cunning ways has led many to dismiss the truth about Christ’s commandment that we be one—one body, one mind, and one church!  Until the church can break the curse of division, then we will not be able to help our nation heal from the stain of racism.

The divisiveness and rebellion of mankind is a clear indication that we are in the end times.  In Luke 21:7-18, Jesus teaches his disciples about the signs that will be seen at the end of time.  This passage of scripture is prophetic, “….Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven…”

Ethnicity comes from the Greek word ethnos, which means nation.  Ethnicity is divided against ethnicity.  Race is divided against race.  During our journey in life, we will definitely encounter division.  Division is a spirit that causes one to be in opposition with another.  Division destroys relationship; it erodes peace; and, creates rebellion and confusion.  How should we as Christians handle division?  We deal with division by adopting a spirit of unity and becoming a vessel of love.  Let us continue to pray that God gives us words to say that will help unite people rather than divide them.  Let us continue to pray that we are conduits of God’s love and exemplify his universal love every day of our lives.  Moreover, let us pray daily that God grants us a spirit of peace, unity, and wisdom.

Prophesy over your life with these words:

I, [input your name] will be an ambassador of peace for my God, Jehovah Shalom, is a God of peace.  He will use me to help heal the stain of racism that has been left on America.  He will teach me to utilize the correct actions, words, and resources to help heal our country from the aftereffects of racism.  God will help me demonstrate his love and compassion to all regardless of their race or culture. For our God has called us to one culture, which is the culture of Christianity.
