The Jewish feast of Passover celebrates the time when God protected His people, Israel, from the plague that came upon the Egyptians, to kill their first-born sons. This plague was sent because Pharoah repeatedly refused to release the Israelites from captivity. God told Moses to tell His people to go into their homes, and the head of the household was to take the blood of a slain lamb and put the blood on the top and sides of their doors. When God saw the blood on their door frames, He passed over them, and their firstborn sons were saved from death. The Passover feast also celebrates the exodus of the Israelites from their captivity in Egypt. This story points us to faith in the shed blood of Christ as the protection for us against sin and its consequences. It points to Christ as our Passover Lamb.
John the Baptist said of Jesus Christ, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world”. God planned that the Passover would be celebrated on the same day that Jesus Christ died for us on the cross. Before Jesus was taken prisoner and crucified, He celebrated the Passover meal with His disciples. “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, Take eat; this is My body. Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant which is shed for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:-26-28. Faith in the Lord’s shed blood for us brings us forgiveness of sin, and faith in the Lord’s broken body for us brings healing as we recognize that we are His body and His life is in us. 1 Corinthians 11:29
Instead of thinking that we need to hide in our homes and isolate ourselves from other people until the Coronavirus, that has hit the world diminishes, we can focus on the broken body and blood of Christ and the Lamb of God who was slain, risen and is now our Lord. See who you are in Christ and that His Spirit and Word are in you, and you are safe in Him. You are in God’s house because You are the temple of the Lord, which is your body, and the blood of the Lamb of God covers you because you entered the door of Christ, Himself. Jesus Christ said I am the door, if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. John 10:9 Listen to His Holy Spirit within you, He will lead you in all things. Jesus, our compassionate High Priest and it is his will to channel intercessory prayer for the world through us and share the good news of His love with others.
I want to encourage you, precious people of God, that if you are working in hospitals, nursing homes, stores, offices, or wherever you are, and whatever you are doing, you are safe from becoming infected with disease or becoming a carrier of the disease, if you will put your trust fully in Jesus Christ’s shed blood and broken body for you. Not only are you safe and will not endanger others, but you are equipped by God to bring healing to those that are sick, by your faith.
Remember, the key is to exercise your faith in Christ. Jesus said, He that believes on me, the works that I do, he will do also and greater works than these will he do because I go to my Father. John 14:12. He said, behold I give you the authority to trample upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19. He said, you shall lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Mark 16:18. Jesus also said, whatever you bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven. Matthew 18:18. Death and life are in the power of your tongue! Proverbs 18:21. So be strong in the Lord and very courageous because greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the world!!
