Finding Purpose in Isolation - Zona Sydnor-Walton

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope
— Jeremiah 29:11

Due to COVID-19, we are continuously faced with reports of the closing of work, churches, schools, sporting events, restaurants, and places of beauty.  In addition, we are not freely allowed to visit hospitalized loved ones or those in nursing homes.  During this difficult time, I am reminded of the goodness of God and how He promises to carry us through storms; and how He has proven Himself to us time and again.

The world that keeps us so busy is shutting down around us. Business occupies our time and keeps us entertained.  According to Psalm 39:6, we are merely moving shadows and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. Our busyness limits our time with God so we must be certain to be busy with purpose and not pointlessness.

So, how do we deal with this forced imposition of change that came courtesy of COVID-19?  Spend time with God, read your bible, pray and He will lead you to your purpose in Him.  Jeremiah 29:11 says “for I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.  God has great plans for our lives, but we must devote this time away from our busy schedules to seek His will.  He is waiting for us to use this time to get closer to Him.  While this quarantine may be daunting, remember Romans 8:28 says and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
