"Thanksgiving to God for His Enduring Mercy”
Reflection:
Psalm 136 is a psalm of thanksgiving. From the beginning to the end we see the psalmist admonishing the readers or listeners to give thanks to the Lord. He thanks God for His mercy, His love and His power to deliver. He also recounts all that the Lord had done in the past, especially for his own people- the children of Israel. Obviously, the psalmist had read extensively how God rescued His people during their time of bondage and had written this psalm to thank Him for what he did and many more that he had done after.
As we gather together in various places with family and friends on November 25th to celebrate Thanksgiving, may we remember that had it not been for the Lord who was on our side, this would not have been possible. Let us join with the Psalmist in giving thanks to the Lord of lords and the King of kings, for His mercy endures forever.
Prayer:
Sovereign God of the Universe, maker of Heaven and Earth. The One who is and who was, and who is to come. I thank you for another day and for new mercies accompanying it. I thank you for "You are good and Your mercy endures forever." I thank you that you are a shield for me, you are my glory, and you are the lifter up of my head.
Father, as we approach another Thanksgiving in the pandemic, we thank you for sustaining us and for giving us your peace which surpasses all understanding.
Many of us have been adversely affected in many ways such as: the loss of loved ones, loss of jobs, homelessness, sickness, depression, anxiety and much more. Through it all you have never left us nor forsaken us.
We thank you for undergirding us and for making a way when there seemed to be no way.
We ask you to forgive us of our shortcomings and failures due to human imperfection. You are a good, good Father, we love you and thank you for all things in the mighty name of Jesus.

"Acción de gracias a Dios por su perdurable misericordia"
Reflexión:
El Salmo 136 es un salmo de acción de gracias. Desde el principio hasta el final, vemos al salmista exhortando a los lectores u oyentes a dar gracias al Señor. Agradece a Dios por Su misericordia, Su amor y Su poder para librar. También relata todo lo que el Señor había hecho en el pasado, especialmente por su propio pueblo, los hijos de Israel. Obviamente, el salmista había leído extensamente cómo Dios rescató a su pueblo durante su tiempo de servidumbre y había escrito este salmo para agradecerle por lo que hizo y muchas más cosas que había hecho después.
Mientras nos reunimos en varios lugares con familiares y amigos el 25 de noviembre para celebrar el Día de Acción de Gracias, recordemos que si no hubiera sido por el Señor que estuvo de nuestro lado, esto no hubiera sido posible. Unámonos al salmista para dar gracias al Señor de señores y al Rey de reyes, porque su misericordia perdura para siempre.
Oración:
Dios soberano del universo, creador del cielo y la tierra. Aquel que es y que era y que ha de venir. Te agradezco por otro día y por las nuevas misericordias que lo acompañan. Te agradezco por "Eres bueno y tu misericordia perdura para siempre". Te doy gracias porque eres un escudo para mí, eres mi gloria y eres el que levanta mi cabeza.
Padre, al acercarnos a otro Día de Acción de Gracias en la pandemia, te agradecemos por sostenernos y por darnos tu paz que sobrepasa todo entendimiento.
Muchos de nosotros nos hemos visto afectados negativamente de muchas maneras, como la pérdida de seres queridos, la pérdida de trabajos, la falta de vivienda, la enfermedad, la depresión, la ansiedad y mucho más. A pesar de todo, nunca nos has dejado ni nos has desamparado.
Te agradecemos por apoyarnos y por abrir un camino cuando parecía que no había manera.
Te pedimos que nos perdones por nuestras deficiencias y fracasos debido a la imperfección humana. Eres un buen, buen Padre, te amamos y te damos gracias por todas las cosas en el poderoso nombre de Jesús.
