Our Daily Prayer for Sunday - Sister Lakeisha Singleton

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV

Theme:  “Stop in the Name of Love:  An Intercessory Prayer for the Church”

Dear Lord,

We thank and praise you for who you are and all you have done for each and everyone of us.  We stand in awe of your unfailing and unconditional "love" that you have shown to your children.  It is because of your "love" that we have been able to endure this pandemic and continue to persevere through every difficulty that was placed in our path.

Lord, as the body of Christ, we pray that you teach us what true Christian "love" is so that we will "love" others as you, Jesus Christ, "loves" us.  Let our demonstration of "love" not be based upon a feeling or emotion, but Lord let our "love" be motivated by scripture and your Holy Spirit.  Father, your word tells us that “Love is patient and kind” so we ask that you teach us to be patient and gracious to one another.  Father, teach us to show kindness and compassion to others even when it is not shown to us.

Father, teach us to have a forgiving heart for your "love" “keeps no record of wrongs.”  Lord, let your Holy Spirit convict us if we fail to show Godly "love," patience, and kindness to others.  Let us remember Lord the "love" and mercy that you have shown us by dying on the cross for our sins.  It is because of your immeasurable "love" that we can walk in grace and forgiveness.

Lord, we know that your "love" is perfect and unconditional and a "love" like this can only be found in you, our Savior and King.  Your "love" is indescribable and unimaginable.  It never changes regardless of our circumstances.  Let your "love" be a constant motivation for us to pray and seek your face.  Lord, let your "love" encourage us to make wise decisions when we are confused or need guidance.

Father, when we become weary, tired, angry or too emotional let us pause and think about your "love."  No greater "love" than this--that you had for us when you laid down your life for all sinners. Thank you Jesus for your "love." In your name we pray.

Amen.
