Cease Striving or Stop fighting, Be Still and Know -Maria V. Melendez Bordado

Verse 10 has something to say to both the enemies of God and the People of God, but it is the people of God the Psalm is written to.

We are living in difficult times. Due to a global pandemic, we live in a whole new reality. Depending on your family situation, you may be experiencing moments of joy in being able to stay home with extended family, or, you may be experiencing loss of friends and family members, isolation, job loss, and wondering when relief will come.

In the midst of all of this turmoil we find quiet times and in our busiest times, we take a moment and reflect on the goodness of God and give thanks to Him for our blessings and patience during hardship. We will be stronger; we will weather the storm and will again enjoy the company of our friends and loved ones. We are grateful for the ability with social media to connect with our families, friends, and, church groups. We can see our ministers and worship services in our homes.

As we continue to pray for one another, take time to hear that small voice of God during your quiet times with Him.

Psalm 46 was written by David praising God for being a source of power and salvation in times of trouble.  He describes God’s attributes. He is our refuge and strength. God is omnipresent and a great help to those who are in trouble. God is higher than all else and able to rule above all.  At his voice the earth melts.

Verse 10 tells us to Be Still…

Psalm 46

1.     God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2.     Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart

of the sea, though its waters roar and foam,

3.     though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

4.     There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

5.     God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

6.     The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.

7.     The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah

8.     Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth.

9.     He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.

10.  "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

11. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”

Brothers and sisters hold on to your faith. We will remain steadfast. We will hear the testimonies of the warriors in the midst of this battle we are fighting together.
